The sixth season of the programme comes to a successful close
Europe Senior Tourism has ended its 2015/2016 season, the sixth since it was launched in 2009, with higher sales and more markets and destinations for its package tours for European seniors. The details and the final figures will be published in a few weeks.
The 2015/2016 season consolidates the success of the change in the programme model introduced in 2014, which eliminated subsidies for the tourists, opting for more public-private partnerships and more participation by the destinations and tour operators in the development of the project. Also, this season Spain’s Tourist Offices abroad took part directly in some aspects, increasing their usual level of participation.
In short, this was a wider-ranging and more participatory programme, adding inland destinations and new travel agencies in order to combat the seasonality of the tourism industry and present a diverse range of travel experiences.
