Europe Senior Tourism at the Czech fair Holiday World
Murcia, Costa del Sol, Menorca, Extremadura, Toledo, A Coruña and Salamanca are just some of the destinations promoted by Europe Senior Tourism at the most important tourism fair in the Czech Republic, Holiday World, on 18,19,20 and 21 February.
Packages for seniors to Spanish destinations during low season were promoted at a stand designed jointly by SEGITTUR and the approved Czech tour operator Delfin Travel during the four-day trade fair. During the event there was also a press breakfast for 17 media bodies specialising in the senior segment and in mainstream travel. Carlos Romero, R&D+i Director of SEGITTUR, kicked off the event by going over the programme's evolution, and its figures worldwide and in the Czech Republic; next was Tomás Hubka, head of marketing for Delfin Travel, who reviewed the features of the packages being promoted; and then the Director of the Spanish Tourist Office in Vienna and the head of the market on behalf of Turespaña, Teresa Ortiz, closed the event, highlighting specific events of 2016 in Spain (Year of Cervantes, San Sebastian as the European Capital of Culture, and more) and everything it offers in terms of quality, accessibility and infrastructure, among other points.
Journalists expressed particular interest in the project that has been being implemented for years in the Czech Republic, one of the countries where the Europe Senior Tourism programme has been most successful since it was conceived in 2009. In the last two seasons (2012/2013 and 2014/2015) sales in the Czech Republic have represented over 30% of total programme sales.
