Europe Senior Tourism doubles the number of seniors from October to December
26.01.2011. The second edition of the Europe Senior Tourism programme started with double the number of tourists coming on subsidised trips to Spain between October and December. About 11,000 seniors travelled during those three months. Poland, Ireland, Romania, Belgium and Bulgaria have been the countries with the best response in the last quarter of 2010.
The 2010-2011 edition, which goes from 1 October to 30 April, offers subsidised trips to Spain to European citizens over 55 who live in any of the following countries: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, the Netherlands, Greece, Romania, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Portugal, Ireland, Italy, France, Denmark and Slovenia. The destinations offered on the programme are: Majorca, Minorca, Ibiza, Costa del Sol, Costa de la Luz, Granada, Almería, Benidorm, Peñíscola and Gandía. The trip includes flights, transport, full-board accommodation in 4-star hotels, two day trips and extra travel insurance.
Last year about 45,000 tourists enjoyed these trips thanks to the subsidies from the Government and the Autonomous Regions.
